We recommend parents ask their HR department for the most up-to-date information about their company’s corporate match policies. Below are some frequently asked questions that may help.
What is corporate matching?
Many companies match employee contributions to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations -- contributions can be monetary donations (direct dollar amount) and/or volunteer hours served (matching grants at $ per hour set by the employer). When should I apply for corporate matching?
Please apply whenever a contribution is made to support the school (e.g. Walk-a-thon, Direct Donation, classroom volunteering). Some companies distribute funds right away, while others process them on a quarterly or semi-annual basis. There may also be a cap within a calendar year. Verify with your HR/Benefits department whether there are strict guidelines for applying for corporate matching.

In general, the steps to process corporate matching are:
- Check to see if your company participates.
- Many companies use a third-party provider such as Benevity, BrightFunds, EasyMatch, and YourCause. You may be required to make your contribution through the designated website. Be sure to have your company’s unique URL in order to log in.
- Search for West Valley Parent Teacher Organization (WVPTO) in the organization listing. If WVPTO is not listed, our organization will need to be added. Information is listed below to assist with this process.
- If your company requires hardcopy paperwork to be turned in, please complete the paperwork and return by mail to WVPTO at the address listed below.
- Let us know a contribution was made by completing an online donor form so your donation can be properly recorded.
