PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Volunteer to take the kids out to the garden and help the kids perform specific tasks in the garden: weeding, clearing, planting, pruning, harvesting, etc.
Picture
The volunteer does not need to know anything about gardening, or have to make any decisions about what to do - they just have to read their instructions before hand, sign out the key, open the room, and follow directions.

LEADER POSITION DESCRIPTION

Garden COMMITTEE needs volunteers to help run the program.  There are a few basic tasks that require manpower.  There is no structure per right now on the committee, but it would be helpful if we had:

  • One volunteer to manage scheduling of classes, what is taught when, email reminders to the volunteers and teachers before their lessons each month.
  • One volunteer to manage the resources - make sure each kit has everything it needs to be ready to be presented at the appropriate times.  Keeping up on what is being used when, and getting it out and ready.
  • One volunteer to manage the garden portion - what needs to be done, how to do it, what each class is going to plant, instructions on how to do so, etc.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Each class needs volunteers to present the environmental science lesson to the class.  There are three per year.  While it is helpful to know something about the subject matter, it is not required.  All the lessons have scripts and step-by-step instructions on what to do.

These volunteers can be the same parents that come every month, or a group of parents to take turns - it doesn't matter, as long as there is a rep from each class to pass information to per month.
